The Gruesome Truth Revealed in the Lie
Last year, President Bush stated:
You see, here we have an obvious and uncontrovertable lie. Our dear leader told us that "a wiretap requires a court order." You see, he made that statement back when the New York Times was carrying his water.
This is what happens when people allow themselves to be terrorized. This is what happens when people become so pre-occupied with "security" that they (ironically) give away their security for the illusion of security. This is what happens when the media becomes a flag waving patriot. This is what happens when people stop questioning authority.
A gruesome truth is revealed in George W. Bush's latest lie-- we cannot trust our so-called leaders to serve our interests. Period. The more they try to hide themselves behind patriotic slogans, the more we should be questioning their motives and actions.
Why is this a "gruesome truth"? Because most people want to see their country and their government as something noble, something to be admired regardless of it's inherent nature. The truth is though-- our nation is a chaotic world of good and bad. It must be tended to. Like a gardener who tends to his garden with constant water, fertilizer, and attention, we must tend to our nation with constant inquisition, analysis, attention, and action. The gruesome truth is, like the gardener, we must get our hands dirty from time to time.
"Any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires -- a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we're talking about chasing down terrorists, we're talking about getting a court order before we do so."

Nice post. To continue the garden analogy, if one does not tend to the garden it can become overrun with noxious weeds and garden killing insects. I think it is clear that our garden of democracy has a serious infestation of critters and weeds which requires a LIBERAL dose of insecticide and many hard hours of work at pulling the weeds.

Impeaching Bush will only provide a distraction, and accomplish nothing in the way of real change. I've seen the impeachment process before. It amounts to a media circus to rival the O.J. trial, followed by a round of presidential pardons. The problem is much bigger than Americans are willing to admit, but Americans will suffer this, or another brand of tyranny rather than do what needs to be done, if it might risk their lavish lifestyle. They want change, but not all the change that's necessary to live in freedom. Americans have become a bunch of wimps who no longer stand up for themselves, their rights, or their constitution. People like that don't live in freedom anywhere, and they never have. Americans have been psychologically castrated by the television's brain-washing, which convinced them to remain defensless, and abandon their "foolish male pride." The mainstream media has spent two decades attacking the two things most necessary to revolution -- male pride and firearms. Do you think this is a coincedence? Grow up, and grow a pair of balls, or you will be enslaved. I'll be the first to admit that the world would be a much nicer place without any type of weapons, but this is a childish ideal, and the American people were very naive to dis-arm themselves as soon as the TV rolled out the gun control band-wagon. In 2000 years of history, no people have ever retained their freedom after giving up their right to own weapons, but I guess if Americans were smart enough to learn anything from history, we wouldn't be in this mess right now.
America is being systematically destroyed. The army is "broken" (this from an American general in Iraq), the economy is irreverably destroyed, and the constitution has been shredded. Both parties are moving us toward world-government, and the democrats are just as guilty of this as the republicans are. Impeachment is non-sense, and it will change nothing. What you should fear even more than your government are the millions of people who have become impoverished to provide the wealth you sold out your country for. They're angry, poor, and if they go hungry for a few days, they'll likely become violent, and this too, will help the government destroy America, and usher in the "New World Order." Global government is about enslavement, and both political parties have been steering us down that path for decades. We'll soon see what Americans are made of, but I can guarantee that this will not be the land of the free if it's not also the home of the brave.
