By George, America is Waking Up!

The most recent poll conducted by CBS reveals that America is indeed starting to wake up. (It's about time!)

Bush's Approval Rating:
Approve
35%
Disapprove
57%

But even more amazing is this statistic:

U.S. MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM

War in Iraq 21%
Economy and jobs 17%
Terrorism 5%
Education 4%
Gas/oil crisis 4%
Health care 4%
President Bush 4%

In other words, as far as the public is concerned, George W. Bush is just as much a problem as terrorism! This begs the question-- at what point will America be willing to take part in the War on Bush?

Well, for some us, that war has already begun.

I always wished that I'd be one of the people they call for those polls.

I agree. Who exactly do they poll anyway? I have never been polled. :(

Sign me up for the War on Bush...

But how do we repair the damage? Why do so many still blindly follow him, or maybe it's the other way around. Maybe he is blindly following his cronies. After all brains does not seem to be his strength.

Who exactly do they poll anyway? I have never been polled.

They usually only poll a small cross section of society, 1,000 - 5,000 people... so given that there are billions of people in this country, the chances of getting called are still VERY slim.

ah the lovely polls...they can be made to illustrate what you want to hear.
in this case, let's hope that the poll is actually representative of most citizens and not just a skewed sampling.

btw- how can we distinguish between terror and the bush administration? they go hand in hand, making that 9%, or the 3rd most important problem we face...

Well said Ken. Indeed, you are correct.

This is good news and all, but still: 35% of Americans approve of Bush? This must be about the same as the percentage that thinks the sun revolves around the Earth.

Bush and terrorism getting almost the same percentage -- talk about the cure being worse than the disease.

This isn't an original thought because I've seen it written on blogs various places (maybe even here?)

Cheney resigns. Bush pardons Cheney and Libby and a bunch of other folks. Condi Rice is selected VP. Bush resigns because of poor poll numbers. Collin Powell becomes VP.

Someone raised the question of whether a president can pardon himself. I don't know if he can, but it would be interesting. I'm sure if he resigned, whoever replaced would do it for him.

Yep, this is what you get when you're doing the right things...success. The shallow-minded short-memoried public no longer sees terrorism as a big deal because...oh, that's right, it's been OVER FOUR YEARS since 9/11 and no attack on American soil. Because of that, and because of mind-numbed non-strategists like you and your cohorts in the media, the public believes that Iraq and the War on Terror are separate. Americans naturally bitch about whatever they see on the news as the "biggest threat", and who makes sure that Iraq is always on the news, always negative and NEVER shown in a successful light regardless of events? Hmm....

See, if there had been another 9/11, terrorism would be #1, AND they'd be blaming Bush for not preventing it!

Victim of victory or victim of failure, either way he can't win.

CSC,

You are such a twit. 5,000 westerners have died from terrorism over the past 20 years. 5,000!! That includes Israeli victims of terrorism. Terrorism is a fucking distraction to scare dim-witted fools like you.

We've lost over 2,000 servicemen and women in Iraq alone for a war that had nothing to do with terrorism (And will likely serve to only breed further anti-american sentiment).

You should rethink your position CSC> You are a fearful child.

YOu have as much chance getting struck by lightning as being killed in a terrorist attack.

Was James attempting to be humorous, was it a typo, or does he really believe "that there are billions of people in this country."

Actually if the cabinet get taken down, it would the leader of the house...I can imagine Tom DeLay would be backstabbing the best he could to get back in that position...Right now it is Roy Blunt, DeLays' clone..

GW is a terrorist...everytime he needs to change the focus of the nation, we go on terror alert...
