Whoppers and Gorditas...we won!

Well, it only took about 1,700 American lives, and hundreds of thousands of others lives, for members of the GOP to realize that we need to get the heck out of Iraq!

It will be funny to see how they try to spin the Iraqi War as a positive thing for the United States, even though we are leaving that country in far worse shape than when we got there.

Weapons of mass destruction= NONE.
Al-Qaeda ties to Iraq prior to invasion= NONE.
Al-Qaeda ties to Iraq after invasion= See Zarqawi and his band of terrorists.

What did we get out of Iraq? Well, we managed to completely wreck one of the most advanced countries in the Middle East. We managed to create a second Afghanistan. We managed to ruin our reputation by committing well-documented atrocities. We managed to further ruin the credibility of the United Nations and international law. We managed to strengthen Iran's influence throughout the Middle East. We managed to give the actual terrorists more fodder for recruitment. We managed to divide this country in a way like we have not seen in 30 or 40 years.

Winners? There are no winners here. Oh wait, I hear that Bechtel and Halliburton are having record-setting years in terms of profits. I hear that there is a Popeye's Chicken, Burger King, and Taco Bell in Baghdad now. God knows, the Iraqi people have been dying for the freedom to eat Whoppers and Gorditas!

Hi Bulldog (or whatever is your name)!

Is it really true that there's a tremendous hue and cry against this war? If yes, how did Mr. Bush manage to win? Are we missing a point here?

I, somehow feel that an average American secretly supports war and is kind of too scared to tell the world. I guess even the American media is playing a very 'objective' role in covering the Iraqi war.

Interestingly enough, even Blair seems to have won an election in the middle of the desert heat!

Sridhar,

The hue and cry against the war is slowly building. Its a shame that it has taken so long for the American people to understand. And I suppose, some Americans will never understand.

To answer your question, "how did Bush manage to win?" To answer that question would require a very long message. Most Americans have no understanding of America's own history of imperialism and terrorism. So they cannot even understand the basic hypocrisy of our government's position. They are completely veiled from reality.

Thanks for posting! I hope to see you more.

Very nice site!
